The former president has been hit with a second indictment stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building, and his approval ratings among Republican voters remain high.

Kayleigh McEnany, co-host of Fox News’ Outnumbered, recently spoke out about the “political optics” of Donald Trump’s latest indictment.

While President Trump is currently leading in polls for the 2024 GOP presidential primary field with 53.4% approval rating among Republican voters, he now faces two separate indictments.

One is related to improper retention of classified records from his presidency stored at Mar-a-Lago estate and another is related to obstruction charges arising from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Jan 6 riot at the U.S Capitol Building.

When compared to President Joe Biden who was seen enjoying dinner and a movie while his political opponent faced an indictment, one can see how these events may be perceived as politically charged by some people.

This is especially true when considering that this is all taking place within Biden’s own Department of Justice.

However, it’s important to note that despite these implications, Biden has maintained that DOJ will remain independent from any outside influence or interference during its investigations into alleged wrongdoings by anyone including former presidents like Donald Trump.

To make matters even more complex, Emily Compagno pointed out on Outnumbered that every time Hunter Biden’s corruption case makes headlines, an indictment against President Trump seems to drop soon after.

This is certainly making it hard for some people not to draw political correlations between both cases despite their different circumstances and evidence presented in court regarding them respectively.
