A key witness in Trump’s classified documents case has just rolled over on him.
Yuscil Taveras, who held the title of director of information technology at Mar-a-Lago, just recanted his previous testimony.
This could be a major problem for Trump in the classified documents case being presented by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Rolling Over
This all came about because Taveras and another Trump employee were using the same counsel.
When the conflict of interest became clear, Taveras changed attorneys.
He then proceeded to recant his previous testimony and give up Trump for possibly ordering the destruction of video evidence that had been subpoenaed.
Prosecutors for Smith stated, “The Government anticipates calling Trump Employee 4 as a trial witness and expects that he will testify to conduct alleged in the superseding indictment regarding efforts to delete security footage.
“Trump Employee 4 will very likely face cross-examination about his prior inconsistent statements in his grand jury testimony, which occurred while Mr. Woodward represented him, and which he disavowed immediately after obtaining new counsel.”
This is the one case that has always been the most problematic for Trump in terms of impacting his presidential run because he is being charged under the Espionage Act.
If he is found guilty, per the 14th Amendment, he would no longer be eligible to run for president.
