Another Taiwan Transit and Nobody Meeting Anyone to Anger China

Taiwan

The “vice president” of Taiwan is expected to “transit” through the United States in August on his way to Paraguay. This time, everyone is keeping a real low profile. There aren’t any meetings scheduled and Lai Ching-Te isn’t expected to do much more than tiptoe off one plane and onto another. Diplomacy with China is hanging by a thread and they won’t return Antony Blinken’s calls.

Taiwan off limits

China has made it crystal clear that Taiwan is off limits. The territory belongs to them and will eventually be reunified politically with the mainland whether the West likes it or not. Nancy Pelosi isn’t in Congress anymore.

More importantly, the low key transit is also a sure sign that the European branch of NATO isn’t going to back our play if we help the island territory pull free from the Pooh Bear’s clutches.

Diplomats gave us a jingle from Taiwan to let us know that “Vice President Lai Ching-Te is expected to transit the U.S. next month en route to Paraguay.” That’s the end of it. Joe Biden’s handlers expect him to sneak in and out without “incident.” Kevin McCarthy won’t be sitting down to talk about the future of crucial microchips this time. The Biden regime is terrified of upsetting Xi Jinping.

Their new top diplomat, Qin Gang, is missing in action and that has our intelligence officials wondering if he messed up and got sent to a labor camp. Dances With Wolves was shaping up to be a hard line negotiator until he disappeared. Nobody’s seen him for a month and he’s missed a couple of appointments.

Janet Yellen went there recently to try and patch up some of the diplomatic damage Blinky did. She managed to accidentally dose herself with magic mushrooms. She liked them so much she had four portions.

Other than an embarrassing episode of bowing to everything in sight, which Chinese don’t do, Japanese do, she didn’t report seeing little blue mushroom men or anything. Everyone at the state department is pretending that Taiwan doesn’t exist right now and they’re afraid to check their emails, expecting a report of armed conflict in the strait any moment.

One China policy

CNN is reporting that “Taiwan is planning a ‘low-key‘ transit, although they did not say if Lai would meet US officials.” The liberal outlet is trying to soften the blow to their progressive readers by suggesting there might be meetings but they’re too important to talk about.

The reality is there won’t even be the suggestion of the hint of a meeting. Instead, the Biden regime is telling the Pooh Bear they’re backing down.

These transits of senior officials are unofficial in keeping with our US One China policy,” one staffer notes, “calling the transits fairly common.” Taiwan sends their officials through all the time. “We’ve had 10 vice presidential transits in the last 20 years. All have occurred without incident.

What did cause an incident was when “president” Tsai Ing Wen dropped in and had a pow-wow with Kevin McCarthy. Xi Jinping considered that the same as when Nancy Pelosi showed up over there. Things have been frosty between us ever since.

There has been a sudden shift in the diplomatic wind over Taiwan and Joe Biden and his team of negotiators have backed off efforts to “defend” the territory from impending re-unification. Last year we were ready to go toe to toe with the communists but that was when Europe was assuring us they’re all in.

Since then, they made some back room deals with the Pooh Bear and say they’ll hang back and see how it goes when China moves in. We’re not ready to start World War Three over Taiwanese microchips. At least, not yet.
