Joe Biden will not be happy about a recent resolution that passed through the House.
He would have expected this from Republicans, but there is no way Biden would have ever expected Democrats to join them.
That, however, is exactly what happened with a recent resolution to hold Biden accountable for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
You Failed
During an election year, you just never know what will happen when a resolution or legislation such as this works its way through Congress.
Party lines mean nothing when people are defending their seat, and it would seem that a handful of Democrats decided to protect their seats rather than Biden.
A total of 10 Democrats voted with Republican House members to hold numerous Biden officials accountable for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) proposes the measure, which, among others, called out Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
McCaul stated, “At every step, the administration prioritized the optics and politics of the withdrawal over the security of U.S. personnel and diplomats on the ground.
“Rather than admit their failure, this administration continues to this day to celebrate their deadly evacuation. Never once have they said, ‘I am sorry,’ to the Gold Star families.”
House Foreign Affairs Ranking Member Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) responded, “This resolution, as I’ve said all along, is nothing more than political theater designed to score cheap points rather than address the real issues at hand.
“It’s a distortion of the facts and a disservice to the American people, a disservice to our servicemembers, a disservice to our diplomats – all of who put their lives on the line during our 20-year war efforts.
“Their sacrifices should not be used as a political football.
“We should be working on real solutions, supporting our Afghan allies, ensuring that we learn the right lessons, and providing accountability that are based on truth, not partisan narratives.”
Political football… 13 service members needlessly died, more were injured, some having lost limbs, more than 1,000 Americans were left behind enemy lines, military equipment was left behind, and they claim this is a political stunt?
In reality, the media never held this administration accountable, so it is about time that someone did.
