It looks like President Joe Biden is setting the stage for a possible withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election.
Former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah wrote in an Op-Ed for Fox News that a few factors are pointing towards this being true.
Without an official statement from Joe Biden, it can only be speculated what his plans are, but this article will discuss some of the clues which suggest he may not be running for re-election in 2024.
One indicator that suggests President Biden doesn’t plan to run again in 2024 is the lack of staff working on his campaign team.
According to Chaffetz, there was just four people on payroll last quarter and they were all working out of Democratic party offices.
He also pointed out that there wasn’t much urgency when it came to ramping up a full scale campaign despite primary votes being five months away.
As any political expert knows, having a well-staffed and organized team is essential for a successful election bid and without one it would be difficult to gain traction with voters and secure enough support for re-election.
Biden’s travel has been limited and sometimes politically questionable according to Chaffetz who noted that he visited deep red Utah instead of nearby Nevada or Colorado where his chances were better at gaining support.
And while he did eventually visit Arizona, Chaffetz points out that “he proclaimed the Grand Canyon to be one of the ‘nine wonders’ of the world and full of ‘ironic’ species.”
This gaffe does nothing to help expand his base in Arizona but instead polarizes voters making him even less appealing as a candidate come 2024 if he decides not to step aside first.
Another factor which Chaffetz believes could point towards Biden dropping out before 2023 is Vice President Kamala Harris’ role in solving problems such as immigration reform and AI technology development — two issues important both nationally and internationally right now — have been minimal thus far.
This leads many pundits to think she hasn’t been given enough credit or responsibility when it comes her job description as Vice President so far under the current administration.
Biden won’t consider running again after how he responded (or failed to respond appropriately) when fires ravaged Maui recently – brushing off initial questions with merely “no comment” .
This coupled with the scandal surrounding himself and his son, Hunter Biden don’t bode well for Joe’s political future, let alone someone considering re-election.
Representative Dean Phillips from Minnesota has suggested it might be best if Biden steps down rather than risk compromising his legacy by continuing on with his current course.
