Biden’s plan to stick the American taxpayer with billions in student loan debt just took another setback.
The second version of Biden’s forgiveness plan, Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE), has been blocked by the Supreme Court.
Actually, it was Missouri that blocked it, but the Supreme Court has declined to hear Biden’s emergency appeal.
Give It All Away
The first time Biden tried to pull this off, the Supreme Court blocked it because of the sheer amount of money involved.
On the low end, the plan was estimated to cost taxpayers nearly $500 billion, but on the high end, it was estimated to cost taxpayers nearly $1.4 trillion.
Instead, Biden started implementing his plan one piece at a time, forgiving millions in debt to very specific groups via the SAVE plan.
Missouri then led an effort of a coalition of red states to block the plan, which was held up in the lower courts.
Biden was hoping the Supreme Court would give him some relief, but the motion landed on the desk of Justice Kavanaugh, who denied it.
The Biden administration stated, “Our Administration will continue to aggressively defend the SAVE Plan – which has helped over 8 million borrowers access lower monthly payments, including 4.5 million borrowers who have had a zero dollar payment each month.
“And, we won’t stop fighting against Republican elected officials’ efforts to raise costs on millions of their own constituents’ student loan payments.”
Missouri AG Andrew Bailey, on the other hand, was quite happy with the decision.
He stated, “This is the second time the Supreme Court has sided with my office against one of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ unlawful student loan cancellation schemes.
“This court order is a stark reminder to the Biden-Harris Administration that Congress did not grant them the authority to saddle working Americans with $500 billion in someone else’s Ivy League debt.”
This is all about Biden trying to buy more votes right before the election and, thankfully, he will not get away with it this time.
