According to recently released court documents, the family of beloved actor and comedian Bob Saget has filed a lawsuit intended to block the release of records related to his death.
The family is claiming that they will “suffer irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress” if any more details about Saget’s death investigation are released, the complaint states.
“No legitimate public interest would be served by the release or dissemination of the records to the public,” the complaint adds.
The beloved actor was found dead on January 9th, 2022 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Saget had been on a standup comedy tour at the time.
According to his autopsy report, Saget’s cause of death was “blunt head trauma” that resulted in multiple fractures to the skull and hemorrhaging near the brain. His death was ruled an accident.
Local news outlet WFLA reports: “Saget’s injuries included, but were not limited to, an abrasion on the back of his scalp, subgaleal hemorrhaging under the back of his scalp, a linear fracture to the base of his skull, comminuted fractures (bone broken into more than two pieces) on ‘the roofs of the orbits involving the bilateral and frontal bone,’ and a subdural hematoma and additional hemorrhaging.”
The findings from the autopsy report confirm statements from Saget’s family that were previously given to NewsNation, saying that the actor had “accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep.”
Bob Saget was famous for his role as Danny Tanner, the father in the beloved television show “Full House,” as well as his long career as a standup comedian. He also hosted the show “America’s Funniest Home Videos” for much of the 1990s.
