On Sunday, the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show was abruptly cut short when one of the fighter jets involved in the show suddenly plummeted towards the ground.

The MiG 23 Russian Fighter jet reportedly crashed near an apartment complex, creating a huge explosion that could be seen by terrified onlookers below.

Thankfully, both pilots were able to safely eject and land in a nearby lake.

It is unclear if there were any other injuries caused by this accident.

The Van Buren Police Department has not disclosed any information about whether anyone was injured or not.

Videos from the crash site have been circulating on social media, however, and police are warning people to avoid going anywhere near it for their own safety.

The citizens of Van Buren are understandably shaken up after witnessing such a terrifying accident take place at their local air show.

It must have been an incredibly difficult experience for those who were there to witness it firsthand.

No one should ever have to go through anything like that.

Fortunately, both pilots survived without sustaining major injuries — though it’s still unclear if anyone else was hurt during the crash as well.

This is a developing story with new details still coming in.
