Donald Trump and JD Vance were a bit surprised this week by a request for charges.

This is a bit of a rare circumstance when private citizens are requesting that criminal charges be filed, but it is not unprecedented.

This all stems from both Trump and Vance pushing the narrative that Haitians in Springfield, OH, are kidnapping local pets and eating them.

Arrest Them

The rumors got started when Vance told the media that he was receiving calls from constituents who claimed Haitian migrants were eating pets.

He later walked that back just a bit, admitting that it may not be true, but then he pressed and said that even if he needed to make up stories, he was going to do it in order to get the media to cover the migrant crisis in this country.

Donald Trump escalated the rumors by discussing them during the debate, which is really what got everyone fired up.

I am not sure who thought this would be a good idea without absolute proof, but Trump did it, then the fallout started.

That now includes the Haitian Bridge Alliance, who have filed an affidavit to have charges filed, so now a hearing will be held to see if they will move forward or dismiss the complaint.

Subodh Chandra from the Chandra Law Firm, stated, “Their persistence and relentlessness, even in the face of the governor and the mayor saying this is false, that shows intent.

“It’s knowing, willful flouting of criminal law.”

So, I guess we can just add this to the list of possible legal problems that Trump faces as we head into the final stretch of the election cycle
