After the additional countries were added to the Trump administration’s travel ban, House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) started spouting off some pretty significant lies.
Acting Homeland Security Director Chad Wolf took exception to this and immediately called her out, saying her statements about the new travel ban was “grossly inaccurate and irresponsible.”
Once the new travel ban was announced, Nancy Pelosi made the ludicrous claim this new ban will impact 350 million people.
Well, as it turns out, she only overshot the number by about 349,987,602 people.
Here is Pelosi’s statement in full:
“The Trump Administration’s expansion of its outrageous, un-American travel ban threatens our security, our values and the rule of law. The sweeping rule, barring more than 350 million individuals from predominantly African nations from traveling to the United States, is discrimination disguised as policy.
“America’s strength has always been as a beacon of hope and opportunity for people around the world, whose dreams and aspirations have enriched our nation and made America more American. With this latest callous decision, the President has doubled down on his cruelty and further undermined our global leadership, our Constitution and our proud heritage as a nation of immigrants.
“In the Congress and in the Courts, House Democrats will continue to oppose the Administration’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda. In the coming weeks, the House Judiciary Committee will mark-up and bring to the Floor the NO BAN Act to prohibit religious discrimination in our immigration system and limit the President’s ability to impose such biased and bigoted restrictions. We will never allow hatred or bigotry to define our nation or destroy our values.”
Wolf quickly corrected Pelosi and called her out for her blatant lies and twisting of the numbers…
Facts are stubborn. The new travel restrictions do not apply to 350 million people – as some of our critics would lead you to believe. Such statements are grossly inaccurate and irresponsible. https://t.co/YY7YfONvnc

As it turns out, the policy only impacts just over 12,000 people.
For Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, and Nigeria, ONLY those who are looking to live and work in the United States permanently are impacted.
For Sudan and Tanzania, the restrictions are far less, with new limitations being put on the lottery program.
Wolf stated, “These countries, for the most part, want to be helpful, want to do the right thing, have relationships with the U.S. and are in some cases improving relations, but for a variety of different reasons failed to meet those minimum requirements that we laid out.”
To offer more perspective to how outrageous Pelosi’s statement is, in 2018, between Sudan and Tunisia, only 1,712 diversity visas were issued.
Between Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, and Nigeria, a total of 10,686 visas that would fall under these new restrictions were issued.
I think we can all agree that it is a far cry from the numbers Pelosi is throwing around.
This is the Democrat party, lie for effect and damn the facts.
And, remember, these are the same people impeaching our president, a case that is also built on twisted narratives and misinformation.
As I have said many times, remember these facts when you head to the voting booth in November.
