This week, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced new legislation to fix a wrong.
The legislation will hold the federal government accountable for actions it took decades ago that are still impacting people in the St. Louis area.
The sin… the dumping of nuclear waste that has ruined water, soil, and people’s lives.
We Want Compensation
Hawley traveled to the area that has been impacted by nuclear waste dating back to the Manhattan Project.
Hawley stated, “Now we have got to put in place this fund to make whole every person who has been ill and who has suffered any kind of negative consequence from this.
“The federal government has done this before for other victims of their nuclear programs.”
He continued, “Your government asked you to bear the brunt of a nuclear program that they never owned up to and its effects, and now it’s time that they gave you some basic justice for what they have done.”
When Hawley got back to DC, he immediately introduced legislation to hold the government accountable…
He also blew up social media with pictures of some of the damage that was created by the government from this mess…

And here’s Coldwater Creek. Where generations of St. Louis area kids have played. But contaminated, we now know, since 1949 – all by the US government pic.twitter.com/pU7gCXUGNr

Good luck, Senator Hawley… perhaps Democrats will finally get behind this and give the people of St. Louis the justice the deserve.
