ITS HAPPENING: Democrats Flipping on Biden

As most conservatives expected, Democrats only stood behind Joe Biden to remove President Trump from office. Now that they believe they have accomplished their goal, they are turning on the incoming president.

The Democrat party has been fighting an internal civil war for a while now, but they seemed to unify for the purposes of electing Joe Biden and eliminating the threat to their power posed by President Trump.

Now that they see Trump leaving office, their unity is gone.

Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, known as the most moderate elected Democrat, told the Washington Post on January 8 that he would “absolutely not” support passing a round of $2,000 stimulus checks.

The Biden campaign has made passing $2,000 stimulus checks a major part of the candidate’s plan upon taking office. Without the support of Manchin, it may not be possible.

President Trump attempted to get Congress to increase the most recent $600 stimulus checks to $2,000, but was unsuccessful as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked the vote on the increase. Many political analysts attribute this action by McConnell to the Republicans’ loss in both Georgia Senate races.

Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock were declared the winners of the two Georgia Senate runoffs that took place on January 5, which were riddled with evidence of fraud and irregularities similar to the presidential election. Democrats now control the Senate by a slim majority: 50-50, with the vice president, presumably Kamala Harris, as the tie breaker.

A spokesperson for Manchin has since clarified his statements, noting that the senator is not against the stimulus checks in general, he just doesn’t think they should be the first priority. This puts him at odds with Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer, who has called for the checks to be the first priority of Congress.

After the Senate falls under the control of the Democrats, moderate senators like Manchin will hold a significant amount of power over passing bills.

If Joe Biden doesn’t find a way to unify the party, he is looking at a difficult battle to push his agenda through in the next four years. Manchin’s position may make him the voice of reason, pushing back against the increasingly radical agenda of the Democrat party.
