Justice Roberts on a Major Rat Hunt After Draft Leaks


Chief Justice John Roberts is on a major hunt for the rat who leaked a “draft” copy of a pending decision. A really controversial one which would end the practice of abortion. He’s highly offended personally and vows to get all the way to the bottom of it.

Justice Roberts is steamed

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts promised on Tuesday, May 3, that SCOTUS “will investigate” because they know it had to be a trusted insider. “This was a singular and egregious breach of that trust that is an affront to the Court and the community of public servants who work here.

The chief justice already “directed the Marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the source of the leak.

Apparently, it’s a done deal. According to the document, which has been confirmed by Roberts as an authentic preliminary version of the proposed text, SCOTUS is all set to throw Roe v. Wade into the trash can. Leaking it to the press early isn’t going to stop the juggernaut.

To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed.

The work of the Court will not be affected in any way,” Roberts writes in an official statement. “We at the Court are blessed to have a workforce — permanent employees and law clerks alike — intensely loyal to the institution and dedicated to the rule of law.” Most of them, anyway.

Court employees have an exemplary and important tradition of respecting the confidentiality of the judicial process and upholding the trust of the Court.

Not the final word

The court’s office of public affairs was quick to point out that even though it’s authentic, it’s only a “draft” which means that a lot could change before it’s in “final.” What was published by Politico “does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.

The damage has been done and it looks a whole lot like abortion is about to become a thing of the barbaric past. Roberts may be chief justice but Alito wrote this one up.

Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito expresses that “the court would overturn Roe v. Wade’s holding of a federal constitutional right to an abortion.” Including Alito, five are in favor. The others are Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. Roberts was on the fence, only wanting to toss out half of Roe’s provisions.

That, insiders say, means “he would have dissented from part of Alito’s draft opinion.” The three liberals Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan presumably fought viciously against the change in policy.

As soon as word hit the street, it threw Washington into panic mode, “with the news of the potential overturning of Roe drawing outrage from Democrats that rivaled the anger expressed by Republicans over the breach of the high court’s secrecy norms.

Roberts is looking for the mole tunneling though the files but Joe Biden is already lobbying to get them to change their minds. His Wisdom announced on Tuesday that a woman’s right to have an abortion is “fundamental.” He wants congress to actually get legislation to pass, bringing the right to murder innocent babies back to life.
