The District of Columbia City Council made their new Migrant Services Office official. The speed with which they approved Mayor Muriel Bowser’s request shows that government can get things done in timely fashion when they really want to. They shouldn’t have any problem dealing with all the busloads of migrants which the overwhelmed and overflowing border sends them.
Migrant Services Office
Mere days after “D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared the arrival of migrants being bused to the District from Texas and Arizona a public emergency,” the city council approved her plan. That instantly freed up $10 million to create an Office of Migrant Services.
Once it’s up and running, they can ask for budget increases ad infinitum. The project is essentially a hotel, kitchen and travel agency, all rolled into one. They can even use migrants to staff the operation. It’s a win-win situation for all involved, except the taxpayer.
According to Council member Brianne Nadeau. “it’s our responsibility as a sanctuary city, as a city that has always welcomed those cast off from somewhere else to greet every single person who arrives here with dignity, with a warm welcome and ultimately with the services they need to thrive.”
Council voted to create a new office to support migrants bused into the city. But advocates warn migrants are stripped of protections afforded to other unhoused residents.

The new office, Bowser promises, “would establish a framework for the city’s response in providing migrants with everything they need, from food to shelter to legal services.”
Another member of the council, Robert White, is perturbed by the lack of logistics planning. Dropping them on Kamala’s doorstep was a dirty trick, he fumes. By creating the office, the council thinks they can eventually bill FEMA for the expenses.
That’s why they declared an emergency before they set it up. “More assistance should be coming from the federal government,” White insists. “Absent that, we need to step in to provide help.”
Humanitarian crisis in DC
At Bowser’s request, Nadeau introduced the “Migrant Services and Supports Emergency Act of 2022.” The mayor “thanked the council for approving it and for helping her office address what she calls a ‘humanitarian crisis’ facing the District.” The problem has been plaguing Texas and Arizona for years.
Now that they’re invading the beltway it’s suddenly their problem and they don’t like it. They were considering shutting down all the freeway exits so the buses couldn’t stop in Washington, the way they handled the People’s Convoy. The only problem with that is they already advertised their sanctuary city status.
“D.C. is not a border town, but we will not stand by and let the actions of those trying to create instability for people seeking a better way of life,” Bowser announced.
“With the establishment of the Office of Migrant Services, we stay true to our D.C. values by creating a framework for providing support to individuals and families while ensuring our homeless services systems continue to support our D.C. residents.” The residents wish they could get such great treatment.
Joe Biden refuses to admit that he is responsible for creating the problem because that would make him responsible to pay for it too. The office is already planning to bill him for it.
“As I have said before, what our country needs is for Congress to fix the immigration system. We also encourage the Administration to fulfill the requests of cities and states that are receiving buses and planes with no coordination or notification from those sending them.” Texas and Arizona have no control over where the invading illegals show up in their state. Since the sanctuary cities asked for them, they can have them.
