Mark Mester, the former anchor for KTLA, was fired after criticizing the station a week after his cohost Lynette Romero abruptly left.

In an on-air monologue that was shared on YouTube, Mester expressed his disapproval of the way KTLA handled her departure.

Even though he posted to social media ahead of the broadcast about his intention to share words about his friend, that wasn’t enough to save him from being let go by KTLA.

Lynette Romero and Mark Mester were fan favorites at KTLA before her sudden departure.

It seemed viewers were particularly fond of their chemistry while they hosted a morning show together.

Additionally, Mester had recently taken up “Mesters Meals”—a cooking series sponsored by Mother’s Market & Kitchen in early August—which seemed to be popular among viewers as well.

By expressing his disapproval over how management handled Romero’s exit during a four minute off script monologue seen in the YouTube clip he shared, it seems as if this was what caused him to get fired from KTLA.

During this time he said that “it was rude, cruel inappropriate” and asked viewers to forgive them for their mistake.

Janene Drafs made it clear when she told staffers in the newsroom that “[Mester] is no longer at KTLA5.”

Despite all this happening it appears that both anchors remain beloved amongst fans of the network which makes one wonder what other repercussions could have come if not for this incident?
