Another one bites the dust… Newsmax just announced that it will be referring to Joe Biden as “president-elect” from now until inauguration day. Just when Conservatives thought they found a pro-Trump alternative to Fox News, they go and cave under pressure.

Newsmax folds under pressure

This week, Conservative news network Newsmax confirmed its reporters and anchors will refer to Joe Biden as president-elect during news coverage going forward. A spokesperson told reporters, “As a result of the Electoral College vote Joe Biden is the president-elect and will be referred to as such on Newsmax. We also recognize President Trump continues to contest the results and we will cover aspects of that news story.”

The statement came just a day after one of their anchors referred to Joe Biden as “president-elect” twice during a segment. Newsmax grew to popularity during the November 3rd election, with many Conservatives viewing the network as a pro-Trump alternative to Fox News.

Trump supporters have been leaving Fox in droves since the network began sliding further and further Left in recent months. The election seemed to be the breaking point. Trump supporters were outraged as they watched Fox News call multiple states for Joe Biden while it was still very early in the counting.

Trump on his way out?

Newsmax has seen massive growth in the past month. Evening host Greg Kelly has seen his ratings grow from 80,000 viewers a day to 800,000. That number was expected to grow as more and more Conservatives turn their back on Fox News. Now it will be interesting to see if the network will retain their viewers after this latest move to rally around “president-elect” Joe Biden.

In a recent interview with The Hill, Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy said the company is looking to capitalize on Trump’s displeasure with rival Fox News and grow its brand tailored for a pro-Trump audience. Sounds like they were trying to grab some of Trump’s 75 million passionate supporters.

The network has been around for a decade, but most Conservatives just found out about them on election night. Rumors are swirling that President Trump is interested in building his own news network to compete with Fox. MAGA News Network? That has a nice ring to it.
