Republicans are going to have to find someone new to fight for Senator Tammy Baldwin’s (D-WI) seat in the Senate.
It was assumed that former Governor Scott Walker would take up the fight.
Walker, however, has finally come forward to say he is not interested in running for the seat.
Need a Quality Candidate
Baldwin has not committed to running, but that is irrelevant for our purposes.
Wisconsin is always a dog fight, so her seat would have been contested anyway.
The only difference here is that she will have name recognition if she decides to defend rather than a non-incumbent.
Regardless, Democrats will have to defend Biden’s record, and that is not going to be easy.
Walker would have been ideal, but he is not interested in playing in the minor leagues.
The former governor stated, “Plus, I don’t see myself in the Senate.
“After getting so much done as governor, I would be bored as senator.”
He added, “I’m a quarter-century younger than Joe Biden, so I’ve got plenty of time. But not in ’24.”
That is not quite a bombshell for 2028, but it surely is putting people on notice and could impact DeSantis’ decision to run against Trump now or wait until 2028.
