After the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of the Trump administration’s “public charge” policy, Justice Sotomayor wrote a blistering dissent accusing her conservative colleagues on the bench of doing Trump’s dirty work for him.
Her comments were not taken very well by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who was very close with the late Justice Scalia, and he did not hold back on putting her in her place.
Cruz Goes Off
In her dissent, Sotomayor stated, “It is hard to say what is more troubling, that the Government would seek this extraordinary relief seemingly as a matter of course, or that the Court would grant it.”
Senator Cruz immediately hit Sotomayor back on a point I have made numerous times about every policy this administration puts in place being challenged by Democrats in court.
He stated, “If you look to the facts of what’s happening with nationwide injunctions, I think it will explain why the Department of Justice has had to ask the Supreme Court to intervene over and over again.”
Cruz went on to say, “In the eight years of the George W. Bush administration, district courts issued a total of 12 universal injunctions against the Bush administration.
“In the eight years of the Obama administration, district courts issued 19 universal injunctions against the Obama administration.
“In just three years of the Trump administration, we have already had 55 national universal injunctions issued against the federal government.”
He added, “I believe we have a handful of judges who are operating effectively as part of the resistance movement, putting themselves in the way of Trump policies they happen to disagree with.”
Can’t Deny the Numbers
The numbers simply do not lie and there is no getting around the fact that our judiciary has become a weapon for liberals to use against this administration.
I have stated before that you can predict the outcome of virtually any case simply by knowing who appointed the judge.
Virtually every ruling that was made against Trump came from a liberal judge appointed by either Barack Obama or Bill Clinton.
While conservative judges have ruled in favor of Trump on most occasions, they have also ruled against him.
When you look at the disparity in these decisions, there is no denying the fact our judiciary has been politicized and the left has been comfortable with this solely because up until recently, they held the edge in virtually every appeals court throughout the country.
They knew these decisions would come down in their favor, so they had no fear at all in letting these policies work their way through the courts.
Now, though, since things are no longer going their way, they are all crying foul.
Thank you Senator Cruz for telling it like it is. You’re dead right!
