I don’t know anyone with an ounce of common sense that does not think this case is the weaponization of the legal system by a corrupt Democrat.
Believe it or not, the actual act of paying hush money is not illegal, regardless of the reason.
The question here is how Trump wrote the money off and where the money came from.
Was it campaign money that was being used to cover “legal fees”?
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has already given Trump his excuse, calling it an “accounting error,” but I don’t think it will be that simple.
There will be plenty of people that will go after the morality of a married man cheating on his pregnant wife with a porn star, then paying her off, but that is not what this is about.
The fact of the matter is that this is realistically a misdemeanor, but the statute of limitations has run out on that, so Bragg is going for a felony, and he will gave to get very creative to make that stick.
