Trump Blocked, Judge Deliver Crushing Blow to Administration

Donald Trump signed a slew of executive orders his first day in office.

When he did, I had predicted that most of them would be challenged by Democrats and activists, and that is what is happening.

The one order that was arguably doomed from the outset was the “PROTECTING THE MEANING AND VALUE OF AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP.”

Judge Rules Against Trump

Trump tried to set qualifiers for being able to have birthright citizenship.

This has never really been challenged before, although it has been a hot topic for Republicans for quite some time.

Trump wanted to disqualify anyone born under the following conditions…

“(1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or…

“(2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was lawful but temporary (such as, but not limited to, visiting the United States under the auspices of the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa) and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.”

His order was initially shot down by Reagan-appointed Judge John C. Coughenour.

In blocking the order, he stated, “I’ve been on the bench for over four decades. I can’t remember another case where the question presented is as clear as this one. This is a blatantly unconstitutional order.”

The ruling was appealed, and Trump lost again.

This time, it was a Biden-appointed judge who shot down the order and will allow the TRO to remain in place.

Judge Deborah Boardman wrote, “Citizenship is a most precious right, expressly granted by the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution.”

I really do like the idea, but there are no restrictions in the Constitution on this, so I doubt we will be able to get five justices to side with the administration on this.

There is always a chance, but I just don’t see it happening.
