On Monday, former President Donald Trump sent a message of sympathy and support to the victims of the destructive wildfires in Maui that have claimed around 80 lives and caused billions of dollars in damages.

Trump showed his concern for those affected and urged the Biden administration to take more action to help them.

“I would like to express my sympathy and warmest regards to the people of Hawaii, and specifically all of those who have been so gravely and irreparably hurt by the tragedy of the wildfires in Maui,” said Trump.

“The sad thing is, it should never have happened. Our government was not prepared, and very importantly the aftermath is going very poorly with the governor of the island wanting to blame it on global warming.”

He was referring to Joe Biden’s reaction when asked about it: smiling and simply saying “no comment.”

At this point, Biden had only announced that $700 would be given to those impacted by the disaster but did not address other ways of helping them.

Trump added that, “Hopefully everyone will be able to pull together so that a horrible situation does not get even worse.”

The former president concluded his statement by expressing hope for a better future despite such difficult times: “To the families affected, I give you my love and sympathy. Nothing can ever replace your loved ones, but you will always have the memories and will feel their great love surrounding and embracing you. Together we will continue to carry their legacy forward, and I love you all very much.”

His words were met with gratitude from many citizens affected by the wildfires, grateful that someone had heard their plea for help at last.

Donald Trump has shown himself capable of rising above political differences when needed – evidenced here by his call for unity among Americans during these tough times brought about by the wildfires in Maui.

He has also drawn attention both nationally and internationally on how local government authorities are doing little compared to what needs to be done for wildfire victims in Hawaii – which hopefully will bring about change soon enough.
