As you have probably heard, Texas’ Republican attorney general has been impeached by a GOP-led state House.
They have been after Ken Paxton for some time, and now they believe they have him cold.
While this has been happening, the Republican governor of the state, Greg Abbott, has been quiet.
Trump went off on him for not supporting Paxton, who Trump supported in the most recent election.
Where Are You?
Trump and Abbott have always had a solid relationship.
That is why I was so surprised to see Trump go after him publicly.
On the impeachment, Trump posted, “MISSING IN ACTION! Where is the Governor of Texas on his Attorney General’s Impeachment.”
Realistically, there is nothing that Abbott can do, but that matters little to Trump.
Paxton was impeached by a vote of 121-23.
He has been suspended from his duties while the Senate trial takes place.
Abbott must now appoint a temporary AG to take his place until the trial comes to a conclusion.
