There have been considerable scares over the last week in terms of the President coming into contact with individuals that have tested positive for coronavirus.
As such, the White House has put more stringent controls in place to ensure no members of the media that could have the virus come into contact with President Trump or Vice President Pence.
Locking Down the White House
The primary new measure in place is that any members of the press expected to be in close proximity of either the President or Vice President will have their temperature checked.
If they have a fever, they will not be permitted into the press briefing room.
This weekend, the press corps was stunned when the temperature check happened and even more stunned to find out one of their own was refused entry due to the new restriction.
White House Spokesperson Judd Deere stated, “Out of an abundance of caution, temperature checks are now being performed on any individuals who are in close contact with the President and Vice President.”

Sadly, the reaction to the new control measure has not been received well, with many on social media arguing just how high the temperature of someone should be before it is considered a temperature.
Why the Lockdown?
During CPAC, several members of Congress came into contact with a man that had later tested positive for the virus.
While President Trump did not come into contact with the man, he did come into contact with several other individuals that had.
Additionally, a Brazilian delegation that spent time with Trump at Mar-a-Lago has also had members test positive.
President Trump took a test over the weekend and his results came back negative.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had been in self-quarantine as a result of that Mar-a-Lago trip, but his test results also came back negative.
Far better to be overly cautious now, as we can only imagine the devastating effect the President testing positive could have to an already reeling market.
