Adam Schiff, California Democrat and Representative, has recently entered U.S. history in an unfavorable manner.
He is only one of two dozen members of Congress who have been censured since the country’s founding and was forced to stand in front of his colleagues and be humiliated by them.
Despite the humiliation, Schiff has spun this experience into a positive for himself by using it as fuel for his U.S Senate campaign: he now has more cash on hand than any individual presidential campaign according to new FEC data.
The effort to censure Schiff began with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) labeling him a “criminal” for allegedly leveraging his former position as head of the House Intelligence Committee to falsely accuse then President Donald Trump of “colluding” with Russia to undermine the 2016 election.
This accusation was made without significant evidence to back claims of alleged collusion which sparked outrage from many Republicans.
On Fox News, Paulina Luna discussed her plans for punishing Schiff: bringing a privileged resolution that would fine him 16 million dollars for lying to the American people, abusing his position as Chairman of House Intelligence and ultimately dividing our country even further than before if possible – possibly permanently damaging foreign relations in the process.
Former CIA Director Mike Pompeo accused Adam Schiff with leaking highly classified information during both his tenure as director and secretary of state due to fear that it would be weaponized and leaked selectively to media outlets.
In response to Emily Compagno from Outnumbered asking why no accountability had been taken despite this being such a huge problem, Pompeo said that it was difficult “to pin down precisely what happened”.
However, they could see evidence that when they provided information to both him and his staff, things ended up places they shouldn’t have regularly enough that he decided he had no choice but limit how much he gave them out of fear it’d be misused again if not withheld altogether.
It is clear from recent events involving Congressman Adam Schiff that there needs to be some form accountability held against those who seek to misuse their positions within government bodies.
