So, the Trump campaign has decided to go another route with its attacks against Ron DeSantis.
Trump is siccing one of his PACs against the Florida governor.
An ethics complaint has been filed, alleging that DeSantis is running a shadow campaign.
He Can’t Do That!
The funny thing about this is that Trump was very much running a presidential campaign during the 2022 election cycle.
I will not even deny that I think DeSantis is testing the waters right now, but Trump is living in a glass house here.
The Make America Great Again PAC filing stated, “Governor DeSantis’ failure to declare his candidacy is no mere oversight; it is a coordinate effort specifically designed for him to accept, as unethical gifts, illegal campaign contributions and certain personal benefits that are necessarily intended to influence his official decision to resign from office under Florida’s resign to run law.
“Governor DeSantis’s ham-handed maneuverings have rendered him irreparably conflicted and have left the statehouse vacant.”
DeSantis’ office responded, “Gov. DeSantis is one of the most ethical and principled leaders in our country right now, and the people of Florida clearly agree.
“Most voters would agree an ethics complaint coming from Donald Trump isn’t worth the paper it was written on.”
I am fairly sure this complaint will go right where it deserves, which is in the garbage.
