The Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern has outright admitted, even with a smile, that she intends to render the unvaccinated people in the commonwealth nation a permanent underclass. During an interview with the New Zealand Herald’s Deputy Editor Derek Cheng, Ardern reviewed the new “traffic light system“, which will begin once the south Pacific nation reaches 90% vaccination. There are three stages to the program that REQUIRES the use of vaccine certificates for “nearly everything apart from essential retail and services, like supermarkets and GPs (General Practitioners). She has warned that the rights of those who refuse vaccination “Ardern has a stark warning for people who continued to choose not to be vaccinated, saying they would not be able to continue to enjoy the full freedoms under the new system.” According to The NZHerald.
That is what it is, Yup.
Derek Cheng (NZHerald) asked, “So you’ve basically said, this is going to be like, almost like you probably don’t see it like this, you have two different classes of people if you’re vaccinated or if you’re unvaccinated, you get all these rights if you are vaccinated…”
PM Jacinda Ardern: “That is what it is, so yup. Yup.”
“If you want summer, if you want to go to bars and restaurants if you want to get a haircut – get vaccinated,” Ardern said.
“If you want to go to a concert, or a festival, get vaccinated. If you want to go to a gym, or sports events, get vaccinated.”
“We have enough data into particular suburbs. We can see highly unvaccinated pockets. We can go in there and really try and drive up those [vaccination] rates to support the community. Or, if we need to, we can also shut it down.”
New Zealand Citizens Aren’t Reacting The Way Americans Would
Unfortunately in a nation that seems quite satisfied with massive government overreach, the backlash against Ardern has either been half-hearted or terrified of revealing themselves. her polls have shown approximately a 9% drop which according to The Guardian hasn’t made a dent at all. They observed, “Ardern is light years ahead of her opposition: polling at 44%, versus National leader Judith Collins’ 5%.”
Point blank: this is to be expected. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and most of all the UK can’t be expected to react to the encroachment of government as viscerally as Americans given that they did not benefit from the wisdom of our founding fathers or the thirst for freedom ingrained in our culture. But there is hope.
