The Democrats are once again covering for the reprehensible actions of a lawmaker within their own party, as the House of Representatives voted to table a resolution meant to remove far-left Representative Eric Swalwell from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence over his past relationship with a Chinese spy named Fang Fang.
Also known as Christine Fang, the Chinese spy reportedly became so close to Swalwell that the FBI was forced to intervene and provide the California lawmaker with a defensive briefing on the matter.
The GOP Times reported: “Fang reportedly met Swalwell when he was a councilmember for Dublin City, California through a Chinese student organization. By 2014, she had ‘developed close ties to Swalwell’s office’ and was a ‘bundler’ for him, meaning that she helped bring in big donors for his campaign. This is part of China’s long-term strategy of gaining influence with U.S. politicians before they make it to the national stage.”
Republican House Minority Leader McCarthy introduced the resolution, which was designed to remove Swalwell from his committees for fear that he is compromised by China.
According to the two-page document, the California lawmaker “has not denied public reporting that a suspected Chinese intelligence operative helped raise money for Representative Swalwell’s political campaigns.” The resolution also discussed “other troublesome elements of public reporting.”

“A Member… of the House shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House,” the resolution continued.

Given the nature of Swalwell's relationship with a reported Chinese spy, he wouldn't qualify. Why is he still on the Intel Committee? pic.twitter.com/zRjlf7j3E4

The results of the vote, which took place on March 18, was 218-200 along party lines. Three cowardly Republicans simply voted “present.”
According to Fox News, “The move by Democratic leadership to set aside the resolution allowed members to avoid an up-or-down vote on whether to remove Swalwell from the committee.”
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer claimed that McCarthy’s resolution was a “frivolous, political exercise,” arguing that it was a bid to “distract from House Republican’s failure to hold their own members accountable for inappropriate and outrageous actions.”
This argument is verifiably false, as Republicans are well known for hanging their own members out to dry. One major example was Representative Steve King, who was removed from his committee assignments by his own party after making allegedly racist remarks. The Democrats, on the other hand, never hold their own people accountable, for example Representative Ilhan Omar, a lawmaker who has made anti-Semitic comments on numerous occasions but has the full support of her Democrat colleagues.
Once again, instead of actually answering to the charges against him, Swalwell deflected by attacking the people who accused him.
The Democrat tweeted:
Meet the New McCarthyism. Multiple sentences in resolution state “Swalwell has not denied…” Yet fails to include multiple FBI statements of “no wrongdoing” and did nothing but “cooperate.” All of this to deflect from @GOPLeader’s support for QAnon.
