Joe Biden has a new plan to lower prices at the pump, shake down the oil companies and make them subsidize the consumer. Apparently, his economic handlers never read Atlas Shrugged. Pointing a gun at the producers won’t force them to refine more gasoline or diesel fuel, it will only force them out of business. The real answer, as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman cheerfully observes, is to relax all the nonsensical energy policies. That way, America could pump and process our own crude. We have lots of it, he laughs.
Oil companies to lower prices
Exactly how does Joe Biden expect oil companies to lower their gas prices? Especially when “his administration has repeatedly tried to undermine them with its environmental policies?”
The Fox News correspondent who handles the wacky goings on over at the Imperial Palace, Peter Doocy, was relentless, this past Wednesday, with his attack on our visibly flustered Minister of Propaganda, Karine Jean-Pierre.
She started it. Jean-Pierre kicked off the press conference like a cage match, declaring that Joe Biden gets all the credit for “bringing down gas prices since their peak in the summer.”

Not only that, she noted, His Imperial Wisdom is now “also calling on oil and gas companies to pass on their savings to consumers at the pump.” They’re supposed to simply take a hit in the wallet so America can keep guzzling the unpopular dead dinosaur juice until the supply of refined products runs out.
The green dream socialists, who are still fuming that Bernie Sanders isn’t running things, want every drop of dead dinosaur oil to stay safely buried in the ground where it won’t harm the planet.
Meanwhile, they are still trying to figure out how to charge all their electric cars off wind power. After they figure out how to make batteries which don’t explode. With materials that don’t cost a fortune and come from China.
She had a chart
Look, see here, Jean-Pierre chittered like a chipper chipmunk. She pointed to a professionally created graphic “indicating that industry profit margins are adding more than 60 cents to the average price of a gallon of gas and keeping prices higher than they should be.”
The idea that any private American capitalist corporation with a duty to shareholders would actually be allowed to make a profit horrifies socialists. “This is unacceptable,” Jean-Pierre proclaimed. That’s when Doocy quizzed her on why oil companies would “listen to an administration that is ultimately trying to put them out of business.”
Jean-Pierre decided to play dumb. Or, then again, maybe she wasn’t playing. “How is this administration trying to put them out of business?” Doocy took the opportunity to educate her on the oil industry economic facts of life.

“Well, they produce fossil fuels, and this president says he wants to end fossil fuel.” That’s one of the promises he’s worked real hard to keep, too.
Jean-Pierre countered back by blaming the oil companies for not drilling more in places where permits were issued. Doocy was quicker and lunged in for the kill. All he had to do was remind her that they were already refining as much as they are allowed to, so pumping more out of the ground won’t help.
The real way to ease the pain at the pump is create incentive for a new refinery to be built. Biden doesn’t want that. He simply waves his magic pen and demands the impossible, then its off for a dish of ice cream and another little girl to fondle.
