Conservative Americans might be furious and screaming for the head of Merrick Garland on a stick but James Comer insists that the last thing we need is another special counsel. That would be exactly what the Deep State wants. Hunter Biden miraculously walked away with less than a slap on the wrist. None of us can say we didn’t see it coming. Jonathan Turley spelled it out well in advance. After it was over, he wrote a followup to note that the “controlled demolition” of the Biden case is complete. It’s up to Congress now.

Comer has it covered

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, understands the pain and frustration felt by millions of conservative Americans. Even so, he “strongly opposes the appointment of a special counsel in the federal probe into Hunter Biden.

We can’t trust Merrick Garland as far as we can throw him. Where we’d like to throw him is in jail. The oversight committee members are just the ones to eventually do it. At least, the Republican ones are trying real hard.

Chairman Comer promises that “his panel is fully equipped to get to the bottom of its investigation into the Biden family’s alleged business schemes.” By that, he means bribery and influence peddling. The only thing the Biden family has to sell is access to the big guy and the favors he can grant. Last week, the House Ways and Means Committee revealed that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss told the IRS investigators that the charging decisions weren’t really up to him.

That means either the whistleblowers are lying or Merrick Garland is. It’s clear to anyone with eyes that “officials at the Justice Department, FBI and IRS interfered with the investigation into Hunter Biden.” He got one of the same get out of jail cards they gave to Hillary Clinton.

That wasn’t all the IRS insiders have to reveal. They also allege that “DOJ prosecutors directed investigators to avoid asking witnesses questions about President Biden.” They refused to issue search warrants and a whole lot more. The recent disclosures were prompted by the “diabolical” plea bargain Weiss put on the table.

It’s written in the blood of conservatives and they weren’t about to let it stand without telling the public what they know. As Comer and his committee are well aware, the “revelations came just days after the Justice Department announced that Hunter Biden will plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax as part of a deal that is expected to keep him out of prison.” He needs to complete a drug diversion program as well. How terrible.

Moving right along

The Kentucky lawmaker and his committee want to make absolutely certain that they keep “the investigation out of the hands of a Biden administration-appointed special counsel.” His team is already on the job.

The House Oversight Committee has found and shared with the public in five months what the Justice Department and FBI have kept secret for five years, so I think we’re moving right along,” Comer declared.

I strongly oppose the appointment of a special counsel. I think that’s the most ridiculous idea that any Republican could think right now.” He’s right, too. Because, he explains, “if you support a special counsel, you support and trust Merrick Garland to have the sole authority to pick one person who can then take over the investigation.

They, Comer reminds, would have an inappropriate amount of authority. Special Counsels “never have to be transparent with the media or Congress until the conclusion of the investigation, which might take years.” We just saw how that works with Hunter’s deal. For that matter, Uranium One remains an open file.

The chairman has trust in his committee “to be the one and only entity leading this investigation.” It’s justified by the way they’ve “already proven we can find all of this stuff in five months that took the government five years to find.” Not only that, they made it public. On the other hand, “Garland lies to the American people when he says he has not been involved in any of this.

He lied by saying U.S. Attorney David Weiss was “given complete authority to make all decisions on his own behalf.” Comer is steamed. “As if the crimes the Bidens committed weren’t bad enough, what’s even worse is our federal government, led by Garland, is actively engaged in a cover-up. It is clear that one of the reasons the DOJ sat on this probe with Hunter for so long was to let the statute of limitations expire on some of his tax problems. But we’re on it.
