Cover Blown: Ambushed Phoenix Officer Stable

The attention of everyone around Phoenix, Arizona was grabbed, on Tuesday, by reports of an on-duty officer shot in the town of Laveen. Details were sparse, even for breaking news. It was mid-afternoon before concerned citizens learned that the undercover female detective had been brutally ambushed. She was shot “multiple times” but is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Officer ambushed on duty

Initial reports came in that Phoenix Police were called to the vicinity of 43rd Avenue and Baseline Road just after 12 p.m. We now know that a “Phoenix police detective was sitting inside an undercover vehicle following up on a gun crime investigation.

The officer noticed a car with two males inside slow down and pull up beside her. That made her more than a little nervous but she kept her cool.

The suspect driver “kept going, turned back around and parked behind the detective’s car.” When they got out wearing masks and holding guns, she had to think fast. According to Executive Assistant Chief Michael Kurtenbach, the officer “saw the men coming up in her rearview mirror, and she quickly put on her ballistic vest and grabbed her gun.

They were very calm and professional about the intended execution. “One of the men stood in front of her car, and the other stood outside her passenger’s side door and began shooting.

The officer didn’t stand a chance. Police say “the detective was shot multiple times as she was getting out of her car and couldn’t return fire because of her injuries.

The assassins “ran back into their car and took off,” as the wounded detective managed to call for backup. It wasn’t long before “several units then found the suspect’s vehicle at a home near 33rd Avenue and Baseline Road. The two men were taken into custody at the house.” No other officers were injured, they add.

Another day in Phoenix

Thanks to liberal policies and lax prosecutions, its “another sad day for a department and our city as yet another Phoenix Police officer has been shot in the line of duty.

This officer who was shot represents all that is good in law enforcement.” It’s no wonder they’re having such a hard time recruiting new cadets. The detective owes her life to her ballistic vest.

As a city, we need to do better,” Kurtenbach declared. A herd of city officials were behind him but “both Mayor Kate Gallego and Police Chief Jeri Williams are out of town.” This is the ninth officer shot in Phoenix this year.

We have to address this crime that is plaguing our officers and our city.” Because of progressive policies which refuse to treat criminals as a threat to society “homicide rates are up 24% compared to a year ago and homicides with guns are up 45%.

Phoenix is the fifth-largest city in the country. That means “we must do better supporting our officers and ensuring these guns are taken out of the hands of violent criminals,” City Councilwoman Ann O’Brien notes.

Not only that, neighbors in the area where the officer was shot on Tuesday “say they’re concerned about growing violence in the area.
