This administration seems to be slowly but surely getting us to the edge of war.
In fact, we are so close now, Defense Secretary Austin is making moves.
The latest being a much stronger presence in the Philippines.
Making Moves
Austin traveled to the Philippines to make the deal.
The new agreement will give the United States access to use four more bases in the Philippines to increase its presence.
These are not “permanent,” as the Constitution of the Philippines forbids such a presence.
However, it does allow for an indefinite presence as long as there are no nuclear weapons as part of the deal.
Secretary Austin stated, “And so from the defense perspective, we will continue to work together with our great partners to build and modernize your capability as well as increase our interoperability.
“So we are very, very happy to be here once again, and I look forward to a great discussion.”
There was also a joint statement issued by Austin and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines.
In part, it read, “The addition of these new EDCA locations will allow more rapid support for humanitarian and climate-related disasters in the Philippines, and respond to other shared challenges.
“The Philippine-US alliance has stood the test of time and remains ironclad.
“We look forward to the opportunities these new sites will create to expand our cooperation together.”
