For the last four years, all we have heard from Democrats is how Donald Trump and his supporters are election deniers.

Now we have a case where an incumbent Democrat Senator is refusing to concede his race.

Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has stated that he will not concede until ever last vote is counted (even though most major outlets have called the race days ago).

Election Denier

The race is close, with there now being a roughly 30,000 margin between Republican Dave McCormick and Casey.

There were still some votes outstanding, but there was not enough support for Casey in those districts for him to find 30,000 votes, which is why the news outlets called the race.

Even so, Casey wants to hold off his concession.

Casey spokesperson Maddy McDaniel explained, “The number of provisional ballots expected from areas that favor Senator Casey, like Philadelphia and its suburbs, is further proof that this race is too close to be called.

“As the McCormick campaign admitted in their own lawsuit this morning, the counting of these ballots could have an ‘impact on the outcome of the election.’

“With more than 100,000 ballots still left to count, we will continue to make sure Pennsylvanians’ voices are heard.”

McCormick is not waiting, however, having declared victory when the race was first called.

He stated, “We knew on election night we had won, because the math was clear and there’s no way for Senator Casey to win.

“But Senator Casey is going to have to work through this, and so I wish him the best and his family the best and thank them for their service. But we’ve got to move on to changing the direction of the country.”

Because the margin of the race was so tight, less than 0.5%, there will be an automatic recount.

However, I have never seen anyone find that many votes in a recount, so I expect McCormick to hold this seat.

If he does, it will be 53-47 GOP.  If not, they will still hold a 52-48 lead, giving them two votes to spare where the VP can cast the tie-breaking vote.
