Some Democrats are suggesting that Republicans who opposed the confirmation of Joe Biden as president be stripped of the ability to run for office in the future. The Dems claim that they would be justified in eliminating Republican candidacies using the 14th Amendment’s prohibition against individuals who have participated in insurrections or rebellions against the United States government holding office.
Dems want to ban enemies from running for office
Bloodthirsty leftists have demanded that reprisals against their enemies go far beyond those who directly took part in the January 6 protest.
If certain Dems have their way, any prominent person who publicly questioned the results of the 2020 election will be banned from holding office in the future.
This could be compared to the kind of behavior we would expect from Vladimir Putin after his elections, except that even Putin has said that the Democrats are going too far in their January 6 witch hunt.
Some of the most prominent supporters of this move are the same leftists who did everything in their power to manufacture conspiracy theories undermining the 2016 election.
If Republicans are to be banned from holding office for saying that 2020 was a fraudulent election, what happens to Nancy Pelosi and the other Democrats who pushed the idea that Russia rigged the 2016 election?
Nothing, of course, because the Dems don’t intend to ever let the GOP return to a position where it can hold their own candidates to the same standards.
Securing power forever
The January 6 narrative and the idea of banning candidates for “insurrection” is part of a leftist strategy to convert America into a true one party state and deny representation to huge swathes of the country.
The prohibition in the 14th Amendment was written into the Constitution after the Civil War by radical Republicans who hoped to ensure that defeated Southerners would not be able to gain office.
In those days, the general fair-mindedness of American politics foiled that plan as the nation reconciled and former Confederates were pardoned and allowed to run for office again.
Those Americans fought against each other in the bloodiest war the continent has ever seen and the victors still preferred to let their defeated opponents have representation.
The Dems of 2022 have invented a fictional story about an organized attempt to overthrow the United States government out of the reality of an unruly protest.
Their vindictiveness and lust for absolute power knows no bounds; these politicians mean to ensure that they never lose another election by ensuring that no one else is allowed to even run for office.
