The Pentagon is about to get smacked by Kash Patel, former chief of staff at the Pentagon and former deputy director of national intelligence.
Patel has a book coming out, at least he was supposed to have a book coming out.
In that book, he says he has unclassified information, but the DOD is blocking him.
No Way You Are Printing That
When an intelligence official or someone in the military writes a book, there are protocols in place to ensure no secrets are leaked out.
Generally, these manuscripts are reviewed for approval.
Apparently in Patel’s case, that did not go over very well.
Patel’s book is called, “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy.”
By his account, he is pulling back “the curtain of the Deep State, revealing the major players and tactics within the permanent government bureaucracy.”
A review of a manuscript generally takes a few months, but the DOD has had is book since October, so this is almost triple the norm.
When Patel asked the DOD for an update in December, he was told they did not even have the manuscript.
So, he filed a lawsuit alleging that the DOD is infringing on his First Amendment right to publish his book, unreasonably delaying formal completion of the classification review, and he wants his counsel to have access to any information the DOD is claiming is classified in the manuscript.
