He Takes All The Cash... What He Does Next Is Even Worse

After stealing all of the cash, this robber wasn’t content. Instead of just leaving the store, he takes the manager into the storage closet and kills her.

The Robbery

Police have launched a manhunt after a West Kensington, Philadelphia Dunkin’ Donuts store manager was fatally shot in the head during a robbery.

In the video surveillance, a man approaches the store manager as she is about to open the restaurant at around 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday.

The suspect began chatting with her, then suddenly grabbed her with his left hand as he held a revolver in his right, forcing the woman into the store. She hands him some cash, and he quickly stuffs it into his pocket as he checks his watch.

The video then cuts to the suspect and the manager in the supply closet, with her sitting on a box holding the cash drawer.

According to reporting by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the manager was shot in the head at approximately 5:51 a.m. By the time police arrived six minutes later, the suspect had fled, and the victim was pronounced dead.

The victim, Christine Lugo, 41, was a mother of two and a grandmother, and was beloved by her employees and customers. According to some of the store’s regular customers, she was attentive and always remembered their orders.

“She was an angel, a mother to all of us. No matter who you are she’d give you the shirt off her back,” Larry Evans, an employee, said as he joined a group of mourners outside of the store.

“It’s crazy that somebody can just come and take somebody’s life like it’s nothing,” Gilberto Melendez, a former co-worker, told ABC News.

“We are aware of the tragic incident that occurred at the Dunkin’ restaurant on Lehigh Street in Philadelphia. All of us at Dunkin’ are saddened to learn of the death of a restaurant manager and our thoughts go out to her family and friends,” Dunkin’ Donuts corporation said in a statement.

“The franchise owner is cooperating fully with the local authorities in their investigation,” the company added.

Suspect

Police say that the suspect is a black man in his late 30’s to early 40’s, with a mustache and goatee and has a medium to stocky build. He was wearing a blue zip-up hooded jacket, grey cargo sweatpants, light-grey New Balance sneakers, blue gloves, a face mask, and an analog watch on his right wrist.

Police have offered a $20,000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
