ICYMI – A popular actress from one of the biggest hit shows that was on late 1970s and early 1980s has passed away.

Cindy Williams, who played Shirley on the “Happy Days” spinoff, “Laverne & Shirley,” passed away.

She was 75 years old.

Sad Days

Williams now joins her co-star, Penny Marshall, who died in 2018, also at the age of 75.

Williams reportedly died after a brief illness.

A family spokesperson stated, “The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed.

“Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege.

“She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.

“We have always been, and will remain, SO proud of her for many things…her lifelong mission to rescue animals, her prolific artistry, her faith, and most of all, her ability to make the world laugh!

“May that laughter continue in everyone, because she would want that.

“Thank you for loving our Mom, she loved you too.”

Williams got her start in 1969 on “Room 222,” then played bit parts until she got her break appearing on “Happy Days” as Shirley Feeney.

The country fell in love with Shirley and her roommate, Laverne, who played the sometimes love interest of Fonzie.

They were given their own spinoff and it was a huge hit, which launched Williams to stardom.

She remained active through 2020, accumulating more than 80 acting credits, three producer credits, and she even directed one episode of “Laverne & Shirley.”

Rest in peace, Penny, and thank you for the laughs.
