Insanity: They Claimed They Killed a Couple Zombies, Now They’re Facing Murder Charges

Zombies

Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow are facing murder charges for the deaths of their two children as well as Chad’s ex-wife Tammy Daybell. The children Joshua (JJ) Vallow and Tylee Ryan were seven and sixteen, allegedly their parents believed them to be ‘zombies’. Most disturbingly reports indicate that the two were part of a “doomsday cult” according to a former acquaintance of Lori.

One America News Network released some incredibly disturbing information,

“Friends told investigators the couple believed they were part of a cult known as the “Church of the First Born,” whose mission was to rid the world of zombies. At least one friend reported Lori believed her children had turned into zombies.”

Lori Vallow Ruled “Not Competent”

Chad Daybell is facing charges of life insurance fraud in connection to the murder of his ex-wife Tammy. Lori Vallow was ruled unfit for trial on May 27th by an outside psychologist. Prosecutors have since contested the ruling that she is “not competent to proceed”.

According to NBC, Chad Daybell is a self-published author and personally wrote more than two-dozen books regarding near-death and doomsday events. Apparently several people close to Daybell and his wife Lori Vallow expressed serious concerns about their mental states. Daybell and Vallow have been accused of using their religious beliefs to justify the children’s’  deaths and they allegedly sent and received disturbing text messages  in regards to their deaths.

Obsessed With ‘Zombies’

Multiple outlets have characterized Daybell and Vallow as leaders of a cult, specifically “Preparing a People” or “Church of the First Born,” depending on your source. But it is the unusual particulars of this alleged faith that grabbed so much attention.

The Daily Mail wrote, “At the core of the couple’s beliefs was the idea that they were prophets sent to earth by God to lead the ‘chosen 144,000’ into the New Millennium on July 22, 2020, according to court documents and accounts from friends and family.

Part of their preparations included eradicating the world of ‘zombies’ before Doomsday arrived, according to Lori’s former best friend Melanie Gibb, who was part of a small group with which Chad shared his personal gospel.”

Reportedly “Preparing a people” have sought to distance themselves from Daybell and Vallow for fear that their members may be excommunicated from the LDS church, suggesting that this group could represent an extremist variant of the Mormon faith.

‘It was their commission to get rid of all the zombies before tribulations came upon us,’ Gibb told the East Idaho News last year.

Facing Additional Charges in Arizona

Lori may also be looking at charges in Arizona in connection with the death of her former husband, Charles Vallow. Fox10 Phoenix reported “Chandler Police submitted an investigation into Lori Vallow regarding the death of Charles Vallow to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office on April 1.” The Maricopa County Attorneys Office will have the final say, but the charge will be for conspiracy to commit first degree murder in the death of her ex-husband Charles. In light of the Idaho ruling on her incapacity, it is unknown if the Maricopa County Attorney will pursue charges, or if so, where they will lead.
