We were barely a few hours into the opening day of arguments when both sides were slapped on the wrist by daddy.
After Rep. Nadler (D-N.Y.) made an opening argument filled with lies and bogus narratives and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone called him out over it, Chief Justice Roberts treated both sides like tantrum-throwing children, asking them to dial down the rhetoric.
Remember when you were kids and you and your siblings started poking each other in the back seat.
Finally, when dad heard enough, he either reached back and gave you a swat or gave you one last warning to knock it off… or else.
That was more or less the situation Chief Justice Roberts found himself in as the first day of arguments came to a close.
Nadler once again used some selective editing to make bogus claims about Trump and after White House Counsel Pat Cipollone demanded an apology, well, Justice Roberts heard about all he could take…
Roberts stated, “I think it is appropriate at this point for me to admonish both the House managers and the President’s counsel, in equal terms, to remember that they are addressing the world’s greatest deliberative body.
“One reason it has earned that title is because its members avoid speaking in a manner and using language that is not conducive to civil discourse.”
“In the 1905 Swayne trial, a senator objected when one of the managers used the word ‘pettifogging’ and the presiding officer said the word ought not to have been used.
“I don’t think we need to aspire to that high of a standard, but I do think those addressing the Senate should remember where they are.”
Why We Don’t Trust Congress
To be quite blunt, our politicians are showing their ass right now.
This is not an impeachment… it is political theater and grandstanding.
Schiff opened the hearings with 150 minutes of ranting, most of it about debunked collusion theories.
From there, it only got worse.
Honestly, Roberts was right to do what he did, because this is just embarrassing on numerous levels for the entire country.
Clearly, Dems have no real case, so they are spinning whatever they can but at the end of the day, this is about adults acting like children because they lost an election.
The entire world is watching and what they are seeing is alleged “leaders” acting like spoiled brats, ranting and raving, stomping their feet, and making fools of themselves.
