Minnesota Governor Tim Walz had only been named Kamala’s VP for a few hours when the scandals already started to rock her campaign.
Walz served in the National Guard for 24 years, but it appears that he overstated his service quite a bit.
At the very least, he got creative with his wording to make it sound like his service record was far more impressive than it really is.
Stolen Valor?
The GOP is on the attack, and I think this one has some teeth.
Democrats and the media are already trying to scrub his record, but they are behind the curve on this one.
For instance, Walz’s bio stated that he retired from the Guard as Command Sergeant Major, but he lost that rank because it was a conditional promotion and he never met the actual qualifications.
This was because he quit the Guard when his unit was getting deployed to the Middle East.
Minnesota National Guard’s State Public Affairs Officer, Army Lt. Col. Kristen Auge, confirmed he did not hold that rank when he retired.
This was also confirmed by two other members of his battalion, who stated, “On September 17th, 2004 he was conditionally promoted to Command Sergeant Major.
“The conditions had been outlined to him when he was counseled and he signed the Statement of Agreement and Certification.
“If the conditions are not met, the promotion is null and void, like it never happened.”
The two retired Army Command Sergeant Majors, Thomas Behrends and Paul Herr, actually wrote a blistering post on this in 2018, stating, “On May 16th, 2005 he quit, leaving the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion and its Soldiers hanging; without its senior Non-Commissioned Officer, as the battalion prepared for war.
“His excuse to other leaders was that he needed to retire in order to run for congress.
“Which is false, according to a Department of Defense Directive, he could have run and requested permission from the Secretary of Defense before entering active duty; as many reservists have.
“If he had retired normally and respectfully, you would think he would have ensured his retirement documents were correctly filled out and signed, and that he would have ensured he was reduced to Master Sergeant for dropping out of the academy.
“Instead he waited for the paperwork to catch up to him. His official retirement document states, SOLDIER NOT AVAILABLE FOR SIGNATURE.”
Behrends continued, “The public needs to know how pathetic his leadership was as a National Guardsman.
“He abandoned us. What the hell kind of leader does that?
“As soon as the shots were fired in Iraq, he turned and ran the other way and hung his hat up and quit.”
Since this has all hit the fan, the Dems are stealth editing Walz’s background, already having removed his alleged rank, and even media outlets are scrubbing their reports about him.
State-run media… if this was Vance, it would be all over the news, but it’s a Democrat, so it’s just fine.
