The man who once made rather sexist and insulting comments about our beautiful and classy First Lady is finally paying a price for his sexist attitude.
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews has been forced out the door after yet again being caught in up another sexual misconduct scandal.
First Lady Comments
During the 2016 election season, Chris Matthews made some rather derogatory comments about Melania Trump.
As Melania walked on stage, CNN reported that Matthews stated, “Did you see her walk? Runway walk?
“I could watch that runway show.”
Honestly, we have seen politicians forced out of office for less, but MSNBC would not even address the comments made by Matthews.
After the incident blew up on social media, the First Lady’s spokesperson stated that Melania is “an accomplished businesswoman and entrepreneur in her own right.
She further stated that it was “unfortunate to see the continuous inaccuracies and misrepresentations made by the media of Mrs. Trump as anything less than the independently successful woman that she is.”
More Problems for Matthews
On Monday, Matthews announced that he was doing his last “Hardball show.”
He stated, “I’m retiring. This is the last ‘Hardball’ at MSNBC and obviously this isn’t for lack of interest in politics.
“As you can tell, I’ve loved every minute of my 20 years as host of ‘Hardball.’
“The younger generations out there are ready to take the reins.
“We’ve seen them in politics, in the media, and fighting for the causes. They’re improving the workplace.
“We’re talking here about better standards than we grew up with. Fair standards. A lot of it has to do with how we talk to each other.
“Compliments on a woman’s appearance that some men, including me, might have once incorrectly thought were OK, were never OK. Not then and certainly not today. And for making such comments in the past, I’m sorry.”
It’s not quite that cut and dry, though.
Matthews was being forced out due to new allegations made against him that actually first surfaced in 2017, only the woman making the allegations at the time refused to name the individual.
Laura Basset, the accuser, has now come forward to set the record straight.
Basset stated, “Right before I had to go on his show and talk about sexual-assault allegations against Donald Trump, Matthews looked over at me in the makeup chair next to him and said, ‘Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?’
“When I laughed nervously and said nothing, he followed up to the makeup artist. ‘Keep putting makeup on her, I’ll fall in love with her.'”
The comments did not stop there, nor did the allegations, yet Matthews’ fellow journalists refused to hold him accountable for his actions, actually complimenting him as he leaves the industry in disgrace.
This “retirement” was a long time coming and to Matthews, we say, “good riddance.”
