The Hatch Act…
It might as well be a 100-foot wall separating the media from the White House right now regarding information about Joe Biden and him running for office in 2024.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has hid behind this law 33 times so she did not have to answer the question.
No Chances
I understand erring on the side of caution, but this is getting ridiculous.
KJP is not answering questions about Biden’s health, his travel schedule, and the release of his medical records.
None of those questions would put her in jeopardy of violating the Hatch Act.
Richard Painter, a former chief White House ethics lawyer stated, “It sounds like she’s overly broad in her application of the Hatch Act.
“It’s just that she doesn’t want to answer a question on the president’s medical records.”
Perhaps someone in the press corps should go over the Hatch Act word-by-word for KJP to make sure she understands it.
White House assistant press secretary Robyn Patterson defended the approach by KJP.
Patterson stated, “This White House believes in the rule of law, and we’ll continue to provide information to members of the media while working within the bounds of federal statutes.”
The rule of law… really? Perhaps then they can explain to use why our immigrant laws are being defied thousands of times a day, every day, and have been for the last two years.
