If you hadn’t noticed, radio show host Megyn Kelly was absent from her show recently after learning of the unexpected death of a close friend. The former Fox News host made an announcement on her show and also posted it to her Instagram page notifying fans and followers.
In honor of her late friend, Jocelyn Steelman, Megyn attended the funeral service and opened up about her feelings surrounding it in a powerful post on her website.
Megyn Kelly announced she would be taking the day off to honor her friend who had died over the weekend at just 46 years old. She shared a heartfelt tribute to her followers and encouraged them to take time out of their own lives for those they love most.
“God forbid, if God called your number tomorrow morning, you are OK with the way you were in this world, your relationships – your core relationships,” she said. “But if you could spare a prayer for my friends, her husband and her boys I sure would appreciate it.”
Through Kelly’s website we learned more about Steelman and how they first met 10 years ago through their children’s school. Jocelyn was described as being an adoring mother to two young boys – Jacob (13) and Felix (10). During tumultuous times in recent years, Steelman served as someone whom Kelly was able to lean on for support- despite no signs that anything was wrong physically or medically.
Her death left both family members and friends feeling confused as they grappled with why something so tragic could happen so suddenly without explanation.
Attending Steelman’s funeral service was incredibly moving according to Kelly- leaving everyone stunned by what had happened only days prior. As tears streamed down many faces during the ceremony, one thing became clear: no one should ever have been standing there mourning such an unexpected loss in such a short amount of time.
Filled with sorrow yet empowered by strength from all those around her attending , Kelly continued holding onto faith that some sort of purpose could be found within this tragedy even though it may never make sense completely.
