An Obama-era official came forward recently, and his message was not one that Kamala Harris is doing to want to hear only a week out from the election.
Former Obama adviser Tommy Vietor believes that Harris is sending a message to voters that is not landing very well.
That is bad news less than a week away from voters heading to the polls.
Not Landing
I have stated in other reports that it seems to me that Harris has decided to use Hillary’s 2016 campaign of just selling the idea that Harris is not Trump.
Harris has gone completely negative while voters still really don’t know that much about her or her agenda.
Harris should be hammering policy right now, but instead, all she can talk about is the bad orange man and what he is doing.
Vietor stated, “I’m a little worried about the balance of the moment and not because of the message testing of ads.
“It’s just because you have to ask yourself what is breaking through in the closing days, and I do think it is primarily this conversation about Trump and fascism.
“I think it’s valuable to say the top people that worked for him don’t trust him to be president again — I think that’s alarming new information, probably for a lot of people.
“But it’s gotten mixed in with conversations about praising Hitler’s generals and things that I think just sound partisan and hyperbolic, and a lot of people brush it off.”
Vietor also commented on the fact that the media continues to push the narrative that Trump is a fascist and a Nazi.
He continued, “I’m not blaming anyone, I’m talking about the closing conversation that people are hearing, and I think it’s overly tilted away from an economic message right now in ways that worry me.
“Because every focus group and piece of polling we see shows you that voters primarily care about those issues, and they’re also, there’s a pretty easy, ready-made answer for Trump, which is we saw him for four years, people don’t think it was that bad, and so some of the language used to describe him can seem ridiculous to people. So that’s where my anxiety comes from.”
Vietor is clearly right on this because Harris has been sliding in polling, including in her overall national lead, which, in some of the most recent polls, now has Trump ahead.
It just seems like it’s too late for Harris to recover from this slide, as I don’t see any bombshell hitting before Tuesday that would change people’s minds at this point.
