Want to start off by telling you all something about Mount Rushmore, a visit to that site may have saved my life.
I know it sounds like something that you would hear out of a movie, but it’s the God’s honest truth.
About six months after I got out of the military, I didn’t exactly have a whole lot going on. I guess you could say that I was still adjusting to “life on the outside” in a manner of speaking.
I had a little bit of money saved up but that wasn’t going to last me forever. Then one day I get a phone call from my Uncle Jim. He asked me if I wanted to drive with him from Michigan to South Dakota on his trip to Mount Rushmore.
Apparently he prepaid for a bunch of stuff with a group of folks he knew and one of them had to drop out at the last minute.
So, with literally nothing going on in my life, I helped my uncle and two of his friends take turns driving to Mount Rushmore.
The whole drive I was kind of the same sullen lump I had been for the past half year.
Then we got to Mount Rushmore. I just sat and stared and the four men etched into the side of that mountain four hours.
I kept thinking about the things that all of them went through for the sake of our nation. I kept thinking that no matter how bad things got I wouldn’t be any worse than some of the things that they had gone through.
On the way home from that trip, I made the conscious decision to make an effort to change my life for the better.
I did. I now have an excellent job, an excellent family, and my life is the better for the trip.
Which is why when I heard the plan by Nancy Pelosi to have Joe Biden’s face carved into the side of Mount Rushmore I began to get angry.
I mean, you’ve got a half assed excuse for a one termer and you want to put his big ugly face on the side of a mountain.
We don’t need a mountain that stutters. Nancy Pelosi is an idiot.
