With DeSantis officially in the race, people are flocking to get behind the campaign.

That was bound to happen, but so was the wave of former Trump officials changing houses.

This was to be expected, but how much it impacts the race remains to be seen.

We Want DeSantis

I have told you guys many times that we need to give this race about two weeks after DeSantis enters to get a decent idea if Trump’s lead is safe or not.

There are a lot of former Trump officials that will no longer support Trump, for a variety of reasons.

More than 100 of them have formed a new alliance to back DeSantis, but they are trying to keep the peace with Trump’s supporters.

While the full list has not been published, we do know that former Acting Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio, former Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense Will Bushman, former Counselor to the Secretary and White House Liaison at the Department of Labor Pedro Allende, former Senior Counsel and Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Commerce James Uthmeier, and Principal Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Commerce David Dewhirst are all in.

This is only going to get Trump more riled up, so we can expect to see attacks not only against DeSantis, but also against anyone that worked for Trump and is now on DeSantis.

That is Trump’s ultimate game plan, as he always tries to paint these people as failures.

But here is the thing…

How many former staffers can he bash without his own supporters starting to wonder why he hired all these “losers” in the first place?

Trump always touted himself as brilliant businessman and judge of talent, but he apparently filled his administration with incompetent losers, and that comes from him, not me.

If I were Trump, I would switch the message and keep it about the issues.

If he wins this nomination, he will need DeSantis supporters to vote for him, and pouring vinegar in their water class will not do that.
