Another day, another official from New York City Mayor Adams’ administration gets indicted.
I have lost count of how many indictments have come down, but this one could really hurt Adams.
Ingrid Lewis-Martin, who just resigned her position, is going to face charges over an alleged favor she gave that allegedly resulted in her son getting a fat loan for a sports car.
Corruption Runs Deep
Adams has also been indicted on charges related to bribery and campaign finance violations.
Among other allegations, Adams allegedly took foreign money to help pump up his campaign donations so he could take advantage of the match program.
According to the report on Lewis-Martin, she granted a favor to a local hotelier to expedite a hold placed on a city construction project.
One source stated, “They’re going to lean on her like no tomorrow,” believing they are going after her to get more dirt on Adams.
Teny Geragos, who is the hotelier’s lawyer, stated, “The DA has an incomplete and inaccurate view of the facts. We look forward to setting the record straight and proving Mr Dwivedi’s complete innocence.”
Lewis-Martin’s son apparently owns a DJ company, which was hired to work for these people.
Geragos continued, “And now they’re saying that six months before, when Ingrid did this favor, she anticipated – not that there was a quid pro quo – if she would help them here, down the road it would give a benefit to her son.”
Since that report broke, the reports on Lewis-Martin’s son have been less than flattering.
The only thing that Adams has going for him at this point is that Donald Trump stated he would consider pardoning Adams if he gets convicted.
These are federal charges, so Trump could pardon him, but I think that would be a huge mistake.
The last thing conservatives want to see is another corrupt Democrat get off the hook with a pardon.
If Trump does issue this pardon, I think he will get severe pushback from the conservative media.
