Donald Trump’s former White House Chief of Staff has a bit of a PR problem on his hands.
Mark Meadows endorsed Lynda Bennett for Congress in 2020.
Bennett has now pleaded guilty to accepting illegal campaign contributions.
Shame!
Bennett ran in the Republican primary race in 2020 for the 11th District seat in North Carolina.
Even though she had the backing of Meadows, she failed to get out of the primary.
For Republicans, it is probably a good thing that she did not win.
Bennett recently pleaded guilty to accepting a donation of $25,000 from a family member.
That donation would exceed the limit of $2,800.
Bennett’s attorney, Kearns Davis, stated, “This case involves a technical violation of campaign-finance regulations, based on a loan from a family member.
“Lynda looks forward to putting it behind her.”
Bennett lost her primary race to Madison Cawthorn, who ended up being a one-and-done congressman after numerous controversies regarding his campaign surfaced.
That seat is now held by Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.).
