Leading Republican candidate Donald J. Trump had an exclusive interview with Breitbart News Thursday night about the latest indictments and investigation being brought against him by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Mr. Trump was adamant that he is innocent of the charges and that Smith has been weaponizing the Justice Department for political gain.
The former president went on to explain how Smith has abused his power in going after people, citing several high-profile cases such as those involving Lois Lerner of the IRS, a governor from Virginia, and a senator.
He concluded his interview by asserting that history will remember this moment as an “embarrassment” because of what he believes is clear public opinion on his innocence despite the charges levied against him.
This conversation began with Mr. Trump informing his host that he had just heard about Smith’s decision to supersede the indictment and charge a third defendant, Carlos De Oliveira, with obstruction by alleging that Trump conspired with De Oliveira to delete Mar-a-Lago’s security footage in 2022.
In response, Trump said “I just heard it as I’m sitting down… This is harassment. This is election interference.”
Despite these additional charges, Mr. Trump expressed confidence in public opinion towards himself and argued that if reelected he would fire Jack Smith due to his numerous abuses of power throughout multiple high profile cases.
In addition to discussing these recent developments surrounding himself, President Trump also made comments about Joe Biden’s lack of cooperation regarding document production during his term so far—notably noting “Where’s Biden with all the documents? He’s got 20 times, 30 times the documents I have.”
In conclusion, Trump left us with a final warning regarding our nation which he described as “very sick right now”. He claimed it was suffering from a two tier system when it comes to justice, proclaiming “This is a two-tier system of injustice. That’s what we have…Our country is very sick right now.”
