Congress held a hearing about UFO’s on Tuesday. The only thing that the Pentagon really knows for sure is that unidentified aerial phenomena definitely are a threat to national security, no matter what the explanation turns out to be.
A threat to security
The threat to national security is real. That doesn’t mean that extra-terrestrials are about to invade along with the Guatemalans, when Title-42 sinks into the western sunset and our borders are erased.
On Tuesday, May 17, House members got a candid briefing. Part of it was even open to the public. That’s noteworthy because it’s the first time in decades.
Lawmakers, intelligence and military personnel admit that alien life might be visiting Earth.
While that’s a threat the experts can’t rule out, it’s a whole lot more likely that Russia or China might have some really freaky cutting edge technology. It might even be a turtle.
The panel was chaired by Indiana Democrat André Carson who opened the meeting. He got the important part out of the way first. “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena are a potential national security threat and they need to be treated that way.”
It’s time to tear away the tinfoil. “For too long, the stigma associated with UAPs has gotten in the way of good intelligence analysis.” When a pilot spotted something they kept quiet, so they weren’t laughed at.
Unexplained but real
“Today, we know better,” Carson continued. We may be clueless about what they are or where they come from but nobody can deny they really do exist. If the Chinese are testing some technology, it’s a threat that needs to be investigated.
If we find out we’re being evaluated for a hostile takeover by some race that grew up on the other side of the Magellanic Cloud, maybe we can be better prepared for that sort of encounter, too.
Whatever threat we face, it needs to be “mitigated.” Top government officials produced images and video to spice up the proceedings. The public briefing was over way too soon, at just about 90 minutes.
After that, the press was chased away and the lawmakers will get a much more detailed classified briefing in the afternoon. As part of the meeting they demonstrated some of the things they’re following closely. They had a video of “flashing triangle shapes as seen through night-vision goggles.”
It was taken several years ago, off the U.S. coast. He then showed “an image of what appeared to be another triangle-shaped object.”
That threat came from “several years later and off a different coast.” When the Navy saw that one, there were conventional drones in the vicinity, too. They aren’t saying who they belonged to.
“This time other US navy assets also observed unmanned aerial systems nearby and were now reasonably confident that these triangles correlate to unmanned aerial systems in the area.“
