I don’t know what is going on these days with cheerleaders, but another one is dead.
In a very weird trend, a 17-year-old Arizona cheerleader was shot and killed leaving a house party.
Desiree Rivas, by all accounts, had no negative affiliations and the local community was crushed by her death.
Senseless
This may have just been one of those initiations where gang members have to kill someone to get in.
Witnesses stated that they heard gunfire and someone saw some boys running.
Rivas’ cheer team stated, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I post about the tragic loss of our amazing friend, athlete, and student Desiree.
“Our hearts are broken into a million pieces.
“There will be extra counselors on campus tomorrow to help us all work through this tremendous loss. May Dessy rest in peace and be surrounded by love and light.
“We love you, Desiree.”
A witness stated, “I was in bed and I heard these gunshots, and they were loud.
“It seems like they were right in my yard.
“They were so loud.
“I was scared to get up because I didn’t know where they were coming from since they sounded so close.”
She added, “I saw these boys – looked like teenage boys – running from across the street there. From one house to the other.”
Rest in peace, young lady, for you were taken far too young.
